About Teak Wood

Teak Wood (Tectona grandis), the family Verbenaceae ( verbena family ) native to India and South East Asia, but now cultivated in other tropical areas. Teak has been widely used in India for more than 2,000 years. The unseasoned heartwood has a pleasant, strong aromatic fragrance and a beautiful golden-yellow colour, which on seasoning darkens into brown, mottled with darker streaks. Resistant to the effects of water, teakwood is used for shipbuilding, fine furniture, door and window, wharves, bridges, flooring and paneling, exterior construction. One of the most valuable and durable timbers. It grows on a great variety of soils. Teak can grow up to 150 feet tall. the Teak tree often living to an age of 100 years.

We only use the best quality teak and certified by the Indonesian goverment. Cultivation and conservation of the Teak tree in Indonesia is managed by the government of Indonesia, Perum Perhutani ( Forestation Company of Government ).

Perum Perhutani is the goverment agency which controls all legal plantation in Indonesia.

Teak has a naturally high oil content which create a built in resistence to the elements so that is rot resistant, pet resistant and will not splinter, which makes it deals for outdoor and indoor furniture.
